Default A/C compressor

My A/C compressor is making a knocking sound. But still works.
A/C compressor turn on for 2 sec. and off for 2 sec. and back on?
The sound just started this month.
Sometime I lose alot of horsepower when compressor is on.
Do I need to change out my Compressor?

BTW, I just refill my A/C. 2000 Civic HB

It might be, but I only charge it with one can. 12oz. or 14 oz can.
Gauges was reading between 20-30 psi.
I started charging on the 2nd can... It started to go wack. Like it want to cut off. So I didn't charge it with the second can. What I need to do to release some out?
