burnt tranny? or what?
i have an sohc vtec. yesrterday while driving, i was down shifting from 4th to 3rd under no heavy conditions. once i got the clutch in, it automatically went into 1st. i ended up driving home in 1st and 2500rpm's(22mph). finally at home, i had the car in the garage. i checked the tranny fluid level and it was fine. so i rolled it back on to the driveway, which is a slight hill. with the car running, while the clutch was in and the brakes were off, the car didn't roll at all. it felt like it had the brakes on. the e-brake was down and my foot wasn't on the brake pedal. if i gave it gas and slow let the clutch out, it would start bogging down. so i left it in the middle of my driveway over night. this morning when i went out there, it had all the same conditions except when i first went to put the clutch in, there was no pressure. normally there's a lot of pressure, cause i have an act clutch. please give your insight on what could have or did happen. thanks.
i just talked to honda. your right. the rubber boot on the inside of the firewall is leaking fuild. i checked my master clutch cylinder and it had no fluid at all. i'm going to replace the slave no matter what now, but do you think i should also replace the master clutch cylinder too at the same time? for the slave they want $127 for parts and labor. master clutch cylinder $375 parts and labor. are either of these and easy fix? i've swapped motors, trannty's, clutches, wired vtec's, done all the bolts-ons, but i don't want to get in way over my head. if the price is right, i'll let honda do it. the slave labor is only a 1/2hr. compared to the 4hrs labor for the mcc to be replaced.
just buy the part and do it yourself it cannot be that hard if you have swapped engines.....Haynes manual will tell ya just fine. Swap the slave and if there is still an issue then swap the master.
thanks for the info. i'll try it on my own. i have that manual to help too. any idea why the car won't roll down a hill with the clutch in and brakes off?

What I don't get is how did it end up in 1st gear? Everything sound like slave cylinder. Do you think may be you put it in 1st by mistake?
It sounds like you are still in 1st gear and the car will not roll. Chk if you have any bend linkages when you shifted in 1st. How does the shifter feel? Does it feel any different than before?
If it feels the same it maybe a bad pressure plate too or disk or both. Need more info please.

When your cylinder went bad and leaked fluid, you lost the ability to release the clutch. This would explain your shifting troubles. And since the clutch is not released with the pedal to the floor, the car will not roll downhill.
