burning oil?? dont know where??
B18c1, 11.6 compression, new rings, new pistons, new valve seals, valve grind, no oil leaks, no oil on spark plugs, blow out black smoke. What do u guys think?? Maybe try changing my pcv valve?? I dont know. just did a oil change a week ago and its in the middle of low and full mark. using 10w-30 castrol but used to use 20w-50. Maybe i need to go back to heavier 20w-50??
I would first recommend doing an oil consumption test, chnage your oil keeping it 10W 30 record the mark and how your measuring it (engine cold, engine hot, after start up etc). Check it everyday and see if it drops at all if it drops then you know you are burning oil. Most motors are gonna burn some oil it is somewhat excpected. In my opinion that mark shouldnt drop below a 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch from the original mark on the dipstick.
If your oil consumption test comes out ok then id look to see if your running rich, are you running a cat has the car been tuned etc.
was the motor broken in properly since the refreshening.
The pcv valve seems unlikley.

i actually do run rich. really rich. Ive got 310 injectors with stock ecu. and i do hit vtec alot, almost all the time when i drive. u think thats it?? maybe put some stock injectors back untill i get a hondata???
Black smoke = fuel
Blue smoke = oil
White smoke = coolant
leave the injectors alone till you can have it tuned properly. running rich is always better than running lean.

i would keep your injectors in there for the simple fact of on a motor with mroe compression you dont want it to ping or knock so in that case its a better safe then sorry thing.
black smoke blue smoke and white smoke doesnt not ALWAYS = those things
FYI

115K on 96 gsr, just switch to castrol GTX high mileage (20w50) and still burning appx 1 quart/1000 miles. we all know this oil is as thick as maple syrup and shouldnt burn much at all, what the hell is going on here? I have heard a rumor about some of our b/h series motors having this problem from the day they were purchased. I am told it has something to do with valve guide clearance. I have not had a chance to do any real research till now, but one of my sources, was a 20 year honda master tech and was unfortunate to own a prelude that cooked oil like it was lard on a diner griddle from the day he bought it (new). is there something I am missing here? could use some help on this before i decide to detonate the c1 for an excuse to buy my c5 sooner. if anyone would like to save my b18c1, please feel free to throw it a knowledge lifeline...

EDIT: (seemed related, and i wasnt getting any responses elsewhere) Can someone fill my ignorant *** in as to why/how VTEC burns more oil? I have an idea, but not entirely sure...)

alright i switched back to stock injectors and boy does the car feel so much better. i also changed my pcv valve and im still burning oil. any one know what else could cause it to burn oil. I did a leak down test and 0% leakage. could it be the piston rings??? it could be but i have no oil deposits on spark plugs. Let me know what u guys think.
i guess u can say i do burn less after the fixes. still dont know what it is. everything is leading to piston rings. maybe they didnt sit right??
