Default Built Transmission or Built Motor

Given the option of mildly building your motor or mildly building your tranny which do you think would be most beneficial? I'm not talking just 1/4 mi. Overall street driving performance. I've been told that it's a lot more fun with a built tranny. BTW I don't exactly know what you would do to build a tranny so if anyone wants to add please do so.

I believe most people modify their transmissions to change the gear ratios or to add a limited-slip differential. Some companies such as ATS advertise stronger gears, but the stock parts ought to be plenty strong for any 'mild' engine build (and beyond..).

Sometimes, in various racing sanctions, you can only modify the motor so much. In that case, if you can modify the transmission legally then go for it.

I'd have more fun putting in a Quaife LSD than spending the same amount (or more) on bolt ons...

I'de say neither, go with the suspension but that wasn't your question.

I have an ITR tranny, ACT clutch and flywheel and that made more of a difference that my intake/exhaust did. Throw in some cams and I'de still go with the tranny.

The lack of an LSD is the GSR's biggest weakness, and adding one makes the grin factor go up higher, but that's just me. I am not concerned with how fast my GSR goes in straight line but how fast it goes around corners. It depends on what floats your boat.

Cheers,
Sean

I agree. Mods to your car have the following order when it comes to bang for the buck:

suspension
transmission
engine
