Building B21A1
I am currently in the process of trying to build a B21A motor. Everyone tells me to switch to different motor but most of the hybrid Hondas I have had a chance to drive seemed a little pipey and didn't seem to have much low end power. I don't do any drag racing (Seems kinda lame to only race for a 1/4 mile) but I do a lot of back road driving where I need a nice flat torque curve more than I need outright horsepower. The B21A is a long stroke motor that had more considerably more torque than the B20 motors. Plus the fact that nobody says it can be made fast makes me want to do it even more. I can't be one of The Fast and the Furious clones that are oh so popular. Thanks! Kevin
What you have to consider when trying to build a motor is what kind of potential does the motor initially have. In the case of the B21, you have a head that flows about as much air as a lung cancer patient, a rod ratio that makes it extremely stressful on the engine to rev it to any kind of rpm's acceptable in a performance Honda, and lack of compatibility beyond any other B series engine that Honda has ever produced. It's not impossible to build one, but it's not practical.
