well for the past 3 months the breaks on my sisters neon have been squeling like hell....i cant make out if its coming from the front discs or the rear drums? well since the car is out of warrenty im planning to do the work myself. anyone have a clue if it would be the pads or drums? and would i be able to replace either even though i dont really have experiance with dealing with breaks? any online tutorials? thanks alot and i really apprictiate it
edit: also any recomendations on pads i should get? just need the car for street driving....thanks alot

Take it to a garage then, and ask to watch the repair. Probably just needs pads. Brakes arent something you want to **** with, its the most important safety item on your car.

Brakes aren't really difficult, but if you screw up, people can get hurt really bad... That's why its not the best job to learn on.
If you want to start doing stuff yourself, get a repair manual. Helm for the Hondas, I don't know what for the Neon. If you've never worked on a car before, you aren't gonna learn by getting random advice on-line. It's too easy for someone to post even if he doesn't know ANYTHING. BBs like this are more for extra hints for somone who already knows the basics.
Start by changing oil & filters & sparkplugs. Then gradually go to more difficult stuff. It's even better if you have a friend who works on cars as a HOBBY. He can watch & tell you what to do while you actually do it. Someone who does it for a living probably doesn't want to keep doing it on his time off...

Go to Autozone and pick up a Haynes Manual for like $12-$14, it'll show you how to do the brakes. As long as you have the right tools and can follow the books instructions brakes are pretty easy. Just don't put the pad in the wrong way, my friend did that to his wifes Dodge Stealth once, I didn't even know it could be done.
