breaking in clutch/flywheel
im planning on getting a new clutch soon. (exedy stage 1 & fidanza 7.5 flywheel). i know that break in periods take about 400-800 miles with regular stop and go driving. my problem is that i have to drive 12 miles on the freeway and 12 miles back, to and from work.
my question is that would driving on the freeway everyday at 4-4.5k rpms effect the break in period or the clutch/flywheel itself?

yes. it does. more clutch cycles in the city, fewer on the freeway.
Exedy's recommended break in is go easy on the clutch for 500 miles (equals an estimated 100 cycles) then have fun.

It's a friction surface, break it in like any other friction surface. Hard and controlled. I broke in a brand new motor, the motoman way, with a brand new clutch and flywheel and I don't have any slipping at all.

I break in my motors the same way. I have never broke in any clutch or flywheel. Still using an ACT from 3 years ago and another RPS clutch that is 2 years old.
