Default Brass for synchros??

Can anyone tell me the reason that HONDA uses brass in their synchros? Are there any aftermarket companys out there that make them out of other materials? Im just curious why it seems like everyone i know has problems with their 3rd gear synchros. Im going to rebuild my tranny in 2 weeks, because my 3rd gear synchros are shot. But i just dont want to be doing this very often. thanks for any info

they use brass because it is a soft(er) metal than the gears, they would rather have a synchro (replacable) fail than destroying an actual gear
thats just what i think..

using a soft metal guides the collar into the gear.
Use only honda syncros and mtl
