Default Brake Cleaner Valve Test?

I am just wondering if you need the spring installed to see if brake cleaner seeps through or not?
Or should the valve just seal by holding it there?

Also if the valves dont seep brake cleaner does it pretty much guarantee they are seated right?

The springs are needed to maintain seat pressure. If it doesn't leak, you should be good.
