Brake booster or master cylinder or both?!?!?
Just bought a 91 Integra GS. ABS light comes on after about 3 minutes, but friend thats a Honda mechanic says its nothing to worry about, just the ABS wont work, which I dont care about. Well while driving the other day I was sitting at a light and the brake pedal began to go closer and closer to the floor. Scared the **** outta me. So I kinda pumped it and it then did it again. Well traffic started goin, so I started goin too. Drove home and it didnt do it again (stopped at like 4 more or so lights). Well now Im afraid to drive it. There are no leaks inside the car. There is what appears to be a long term leak between the master cylinder and the brake booster. All full on brake fluid and doesnt appear to be any leaks at any of the calipers. Help me please!
So you got leakage at the brake booster and master cylinder? If its at the master cylinder then it may have a bad seal and the whole the MS needs replacement. You could be losing pressure in the braking system due to that leak so you'll notice the foot pedal traveling further down than usual. Your buddy is a Honda mechanic so he should be able to help you out.
Two things. #1 Don't drive the car..............seriously, it can fail at any time #2 find another mastercylinder, yours is leaking internally.
Yeah its not being driven at the moment. The leak is coming from where the master cylinder meets the brake booster under the hood, looks like its been a long term thing. Thing was that I couldnt get ahold of my friend thats the mechanic for like 3 days and I ended up missing out on a brand new mc on ebay for 100 bux. Oh well, gonna get a new one at the dealer, thanks alot guys.
