Brake booster broken or not need help
I am doing a brake job on my GF 93 accord ex and I am changing pads rotors and the Brake Master cylinder. As I was taking the old master cylinder off the car I had forgot to disconnect the vaccum hose from the booster to the intake manifold and a vaccum was still in the line. As I had pulled the master cylinder away from the booster I had a hard time due to the vaccum between the two units. At this point I figured out I had messed up. So will this cause any damage to the booster? I had noticed the push rod in the brake booster hanging downard not in the perfect center of the opening. You can move the push rod up and down. Is the pushrod suppost to be firm in the center? Because this push rod was hanging on the edge of the circular opening. Also I could spin the push rod clock wise and counterclockwise does this adjust the pushrod somehow? Any help will be appreciated. TIA
OH CRAP! You messed it up! Just kiddin. Everything is ok. You don't have to remove the vacuum line from booster when your replacing the Master cylinder. And even if you did, it would be ok. In fact, you could take off the line while the engine is off. Car won't run smoothly and might shut off though. Anyhow, the push rod is fine. It can twist and turn, no problem. It doesn't just sit directly in the middle. So give yourself a pat on the back and finish the job without worries. Don't forget to bench bleed!
