ebay turbo kits are no good if they are the XS power or whatever they call them these days. Piece your self a turbo kit together, go read the FAQ under forced induction and educate your self, then come back and we can help answer any questions you couldn't figure out or find info on. Yeah that dude was a dick, just do your research!

Dude, don't let the "players" get you down. I was very nearly in your same position not very long ago, and I still think cheap-*** eBay setups are a good deal if you're putting together a "play car", not a daily driver.
I'd say first things first, you need to find a shop to do the tune. Can't find the shop, then the rest is mute.
OR, Read up, gonna take a while too. And give it a shot yourself. It's a long hard road, to weed through the understandings of the electronics, and I am NOT that guy, not yet. But i'm feeling more confident than I used to.
Good luck, have fun.

your gonna have to get used to the hating on honda-tech, or else your gonna hate it. thats the bottom line, to be honest.
anyway, turbo kits are not that hard to install if you have a few friends with basic tools, its just bolt on mostly. If you dont trust yourself, im sure a garage can do it for you, but since its not what they usually do it might cost a little extra. Find a tuning shop that specilizes in what you want, bring it there and tell them what you want. I wouldnt go with an ebay turbo kit, you get what you pay for. Ive heard many stories of the manifolds cracking, a lot of it being ssautocrap, tiny turbos, just not a very pleasing kit for what you pay. save up a little extra and piece together a kit and you'll be much happier in the end.

I agree with you. But you know what the real situation is? Most of us don't know any shops or have access to a shop that does that kind of thing. So, we turn to eBay. 1500 turbo kits listed... NOT ONE OF THEM (usually) has any kind of high end stuff in it. So while you're learning, courtesy of the better marketers, you start to assume that this is what's available. You'd think out of say 1500 kits most would be a high end company like Greddy, turbonetics, Garrett, etc. Almost never see those in a kit. So now here we are telling this guy that is interested in turbos, has read up as best he could on the only place that appears to sell and stock turbo kits by the thousands, and now he gets the generic reply, "Save up and get something better..."
Still a load of crap in my book. The majority of web based mail order shops I end up poking around at show the big dollar stuff as out of stock... Can't blame them either. How many $4000 turbo kits do you want to sit on while internet gurus proclaim your stuff as rubbish this week, and great the next. Tough market, and the eBay guys are winning, thousands of times over.
I understand how it happens that the $600 kits seem to sell like crazy. Better marketing. That said, the more they sell, price of goods comes down, better quality kits will creep in with better pricing. Look at computer processors and basic stuff. Ask anybody that's ever shelled out $6500 for a scanner in the 1980's. My first laser printer was just short of $10G's. I was the first guy in the state of Montana (according to the largest apple dealer) to officially own the first, over 1 gig, drive. 1 gig... the price was sickening. My phone now has a 2 gig card in it. ...lol.. I think it cost me $22.00
Anybody else here ever remember paying $100 a meg for ram? You could practically judge your net worth by the ram in your machine... ...lol...
Same thing will happen here with Turbo kits, and other related items. I'm sure it's already happening to some degreee.
