broken cam

note the the head is rotated 180 degrees from the engine in the 2 pictures

nitrous was my guess too, a broken cam probably wouldn't be enough to take out a rod.

It looks like it dropped a valve to me. Then they must have driven it until it wouldn't run anymore.
