Body Construction???

- Unit Body
- Body on Frame
- Composite body on Frame
- Unit body, high X-bone, monocoque frame
</TD></TR></TABLE>
It's unibody not unit...
Unibody provides MUCH better crash results... it means that the frame and the chassis are ONE uni...
Body on frame is like modern pickup trucks/suv's and OLD cars... it basically means there is a big solid metal frame to which both the body and suspension are mounted to.
Composite body on frame is the same as above but the body is made of a
composite material... usually for weight savings MUCH MUCH worse in an accident.
the last is the most advanced.. and usually reserved for race only or HIGH end cars...
Monocock is basically the same as unibody only it's made with composite materials usually and it's ALL one piece where with the unibody the body panels and roof etc are bolted to the chassis... with monocock it's ALL one piece essentially. the High X (cross) bone is just the design style of the main member...
ok that was a little un-clear... the high xbone is like a box frame in theory only it's tied to the rest of the body/chassis... and it's not really a box it's usually a high BEAM of cf or aluminum or other structural material that runs through the car giving it both better handling charactoristics as well as better crash readiness.
