Default block guard or not on SOHC

Im building a d16y7 sohc non vtec motor and im aiming for around 300 or so whp ...do i need or should i install a block guard in my motor..i know sleeving is the best way to go but that isnt in my budget. wat are the benefits and doubts about these block guards...i hear alot of good things but on the other hand i also here alot of bad things from them....any secrets or things that i should know before or after installing them? thanks
