Default block build

ok, started building my motor(lsvtec). bored the block .25 over and also got os pr3 pistons. crank installation went good but then it came to the pistons. everything measured up good, but it went in hard for some reason. so i took the piston back out. now theres a gouge in the cylinder wall about .008 deep. damn. i also found out it was the second piston ring rubbing up on it. now heres my question, since i bored it out .25 over, could i just hone it till it gets smooth and install the piston, or get a new block. much help is appreciated. thanx

Sounds like new block or .5mm and aftermarket piston.
