I have some black soot/ash on my rear bumper right above the exhaust. Its only on the exhaust side and only on that part of the car so I know its coming from the exhaust. Is that my car burning oil?? Or what else can it be?

 

Running rich, pretty common with Hondas.

 

Also make sure that your tailpipe sticks far enough passed the bumper.

 

I had black soot spots on my bumper after doing an engine swap on my car. I thought it was spitting oil. I later found out that I had sprayed a small amount of water in the muffler while washing the car and that is why I had little carbon spots on my bumper. Cleaned them off and have had no trouble since.

 

Have you done any mods to your car? Need a little more info.
