best piston ring gap placment........?
should i just follow what the helms manual tells me for piston ring gap placment when installing new rings or is there a better way that alot of engine builders like to follow?
i guess for optimal cylinder pressure and oil control......?
i remmeber someone mentioning a better ring gap placment other than what the helms manual tells you..........but i dont remmeber where i saw it.....

i meant the placement of the ring gap when puting them on the ring lands of the piston..........what position is best to alignt the to rings, second rings and oil control rings..........

go with OEM specs, I believe the first ring should face 11 O'clock
second is 7 O'clock
first oil ring should face either sided of the wrist pin
main opil ring should face 6 o'clock
last oil ring should face the opposite of the first oil ring
look at the piston with exhaust relief at 12 o'clock
double check the helms again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Staging rings is gay...if you think they are not gonna turn and move anyways, thats crazy talk. Its not like they wont spin anyways.

There is more than one o.k. way to place the rings. Just make sure that none of the ring gaps are directly on the thrust area of the pistons : the front and rear of the engine.
