Best freon?
Its about time to vacuum out my system and give her a recharge. Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations on refrigerant. I know there are a handful of "boosters" and such but anything work?
well r12 isnt compatable with the compressor oil...right? Basically i dont know much about AC as you can tell, but i want the best....what do i need
wow you guys are retarded, your systems use 134a freon, r12 is no longer used on cars made. Stop leak can clog the expansion valve, drier, other components, black death is bad. Just get some regular 134a fill it the required amount stated by the service tag under the hood.

Umm, my car was made 17 years ago. R12 freon stopped being produced 12 years ago in 1995.

thanks for your input i guess, but apart from being unnecessary it was also very unhelpful and didn't at all answer my initial question.

im pretty sure you can only get 134a (legally).......there is no such thing a "better" freon
as long as the system is all working properly with no leaks the 134a is perfectly fine.

There are a few replacements besides 134a.

To answer your question for what is the best freon....alot of people will say that R12 is the best. Its colder than r134a. It is incompatible with PAG oils. Mineral and Ester oils work with R12. If your system already is retrofitted to work with 134, then stick with it...its easy to refill and use.
I am actually working on my ac system for my 92 accord and am going to use an alternative refrigerant called ES-12a (Envirosafe) Its a direct replacement for r134a and will work in r12 systems also. it supposedly gets colder than both r12 and r134a and uses way less energy to do so. It is a flammable hydrocarbon refrigerant so lots of people are against it due to this. The flash point is super high however, so its very very unlikely you'll have an explosion do to this. I have yet to try this on my car as I can't figure out my vacuum hold problem. Have replaced almost everything and still doesn't hold vacuum! Hope that helps.

Interesting, I've never heard of that. Thanks
