Default best exhaust?

I just bought a 2k civic Si I was never fond of them but I'm beginning to like it.
I still have my previous car the 95 del sol with similar engine. I just installed the aem cold air and looking to install a full exhaust possibly by powercore= because the say that their system produces 18-23 whp on a b16a. just wanting to get some input from you. and looking for the highest yielding hp.

thanks for your comments....

Regarding manufacturer hp claims: DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Here is a link to exhaust specs for Integras. Although you have a Civic, you can judge how different manufacturers approach exhaust design for the B-series motors. In some cases, the only difference is probably the specific shape/bends of the exhaust to fit the chassis. I would check once you decide wich ones are within the range you are looking for, some manufacturers may decrease pipe diameter to account for the decrease in displacement for the B16.

I suggest reading all the exhaust/header articles on that site. I cannot do them justice here. Keep in mind- Bigger is Not always better. You must choose your exhaust diameter to match your power goals (a.k.a.-budget). It is not beneficial to mismatch header collector diameter with catalytic converter diameter and exhaust diameter. This will cause turbulence and kill flow. The articles there also gives you a good overview of different muffler designs and how they affect sound and performance. The exhaust spec article lists what kind of muffler each manufacturer uses for each of their models.

Here is the link to the performance article page on T-I: http://www.team-integra.net/sections...les.asp?Show=1

There is prob more info there than you wanted, but I think it will be useful.
Happy reading. Cheers

I agree with Big Phat R. SMSP or Hytech will build you a custom exhaust that will be better than ANYTHING off the shelf. As alway, this comes at a hefty price. I was quoted $1300 for just the header, $200 for a free-flow matched cat, and another $800 for the exhaust.

IMHO. For a budget bolt-on only engine I would get DC 4-2-1 SS header, Carsound cat, and Comptech exhaust. But that is my taste and relatively little experience.

On the other hand....
To give everbody an idea of the quality that constitutes a Hytech or SMSP full exhaust system I tell them yet again: Go to Team-Integra! There is a moderater that goes by SurferX that had the very same "budget" system I mentioned above on his ITR. When he got a Hytech system installed he found around 20 hp at the wheels!!! From just an exhaust system! NA on stock cams! 20whp above what is thought to be one of the best combos is nothing to sneeze at. Now all I gotta do is win the friggin lottery!
