Default Best Adj. Cam gears

I'm just curious what people think is the best choice of adj. cam gears. I have heard of a few that slip, strip & are also hard to read the marks on. Anyone have any comments?

Thanks ahead.

AEM. And don't go listening to people who talk about the fewer number of bolts they use to hold down the outer ring, that's not a viable argument.

Toda Cam Gears would be something worth looking at if your budget will allow. Otherwise Skunk2 makes a decent set for the tuner with shallow pockets. -HIT

I use the AEM's and have used the same set for three years . I replaced the bolts that AEM uses with some grade 8 bolts that have a better head on them. The bolts that come with the gears are kind of easy to strip (the allen head portion). Other than the bolt head issue, the AEM's are great. I have heard from reliable sources that the Skunk2 gears have a problem with the timing mark etchings-i.e. the marks are off. If you are dyno tuning, that won't be a big issue because the tuner will find the best settings anyway. Stick with name brand and you should be o.k. Just depends on your wallet and your taste as to which gears to buy.

The new AEM's come with better bolts, no more allens. As long as you torque them down to recommended spec and use loctite as AEM suggests, you will have no problems with AEM.

I was thinking about AEM, but wasn't sure. I had heard of a few problems with them like bolts stripping and the gears slipping, but I do know that they have put out a newer set that was supposed to fix them.

thanks for the info.

In BOLD letters on AEM instructions it tells you to use red loctite after you tune the cam gears. If you fail to follow the instructions on any product you are bound to have problems.
