I just replaced my alternator and power steering belt, and both are tight but still squeals when idling or when I start up the car and drive for a min, squealing will go away if I rev the engine, but it will come back after a min or two, any ideas?

Is it cold in your area? You can try belt dressing, get a can for $3 at autozone spray it on the belts while it's spinning it makes a tacky residue on the belt to keep it from slipping. other than that make sure the belt pulleys are clean or delete the power steering; two berds one stone

 

It can be cold here but usually just wet, I can drive for 5 mins at most and I would pretty much be literally in the atlantic ocean, but doesnt matter what kind of days we're having, hot, cold, damp, **** poring rain, or dry as the desert it will squeal, but I will try that spray stuff for sure, and see what happens, somone said it could be my water pump, but that didnt make sense to me, could it be my timing belt doing it?

Yeah if you checked the belts and you said they are tight (which isn't very specific in measuring anyways) then it could be something else like the actual pulleys or belt tensioners in the belt system, but the sound of rubber belts squeaking on metal versus the sound of metal on metal vibration should be intuitively separable to the most casual observer.

 

yeah its one of the belts, could it be the timing belt? i'll try the spray stuff what is it called? belt dressing? no autozone here, yeah the belts feel tight not much give to them so hard to say but I will check the pulleys too if that spray stuff doesnt work.
