Default Bearings... Re-Use?

I have 2000 miles at the most on my newly built motor and I'm taking it all apart again for higher compression and some other goodies.
My questions is about re-using the main and rod bearings. They look good. They are all mostly the same dull silver color. The backs all look perfect. The only inperfections I see is on the inside. On some there are little shiny specs and shiny little scratches. On a few there are shiny patches near the edges. I take it that the parts that are shiny are worn a little. How much is too much? What kind of wear is typical? Too what point are they not re-usalbe? I'll try and take some pictures. I don't remember what I payed, so I might just buy a new set of 18.

if you have the money go ahead and replace them it wouldn't hurt.

I'd just rub them down with a scotch-brite pad, make sure they're clean then re-install them. I'd also plastigauge them to be safe, but they should be fine.

If you do replace them, make sure the bearings go back into the same rods as they came out of.

Soorry, if you use the same ones, put them back into the original rods. Don't mix them up.

Yea, I don't know what I was thinking, You should NEVER EVER try and reuse the main and rod bearings. 1 of these puppys go and your whole engine is shot. Then you will be like "man, i shoulda replaced those bearings." Weigh the costs of new bearings vs. a new engine :-)

Replace only if the wear is abnormal.

In that case if you need to replace after only 2K mi. then you need to get your assembly looked at. Poss. need balance and blueprint.

Otherwise you'd be replacing them every 2K mi with that logic.
