Default Bearing color codes

hey what do the colors mean? I have heard somthing about the numbers on the crank.. I dont know if these are correct but this is what my crank says across the journals

B1 B2 B2 A2

wich 'colors' do i need?

You need to take those numbers and match them to the block to find out what colors you need. Be sure to measure clearances anyway, when you are done.

Here is the chart.

These are connecting rod bearing codes for a b18c5 motor.

i dont think he has a type R engine according from the letters and numbers he's got.

You have to get the letters from the block and the numbers from the crank to get Main Bearing code.

For Connecting rod bearings you need the numbers from the Rods and letters from the crank to get Rod bearing codes.

where exactly on the block and crank can these numbers be found

btw: I have a d16y8 block and a d16a6 block those are the blocks I'm looking for bearings for

there are 5 journals on the crankshaft. there are 5 letters on the block and 5 numbers on the crankshaft. If you look where the sealing surface of the oil pan is, you will find 5 letters. use those letters and the 5 numbers on the crank and you have your bearing codes. I wish i had a pic of the block, so much easier to show someone. The numbers on the crank can be hard to see. The letters go with the journals in a specific order. The letter starting nearest the back of the motor(or flywheel side) goes with the journal nearest the Flywheel. The next letter would go with the next journal and so forth.....
