Battery leaking
I would just take out the alternator and get it tested. If it passes then you'll know for sure that it's a faulty battery. It doesn't cost money to test out your alternator and it's better then causing another battery to leak.
Anytime that I have an issue with a product I always do a search for recalls. There are a number of websites that offer the latest recalls I will list a few. I figure I would remind you of your options all tho I didnt do a full search on your issue.

This is true but Im sure you can search car recall parts for the Uk. I was justing giving an example of the ones I use. Also I was just reminding ppl of further options for future problems and rather than starting a new post I figure and just put it here.
Ok then, i will get the alternator tested first. I did do a good search on google but i couldnt find the info i wanted so i started this thread. I will report back whats said about the alternator and go from there.

Update,
I had the alternator tested and it was fine. I have replaced the Battey for a Bosch Silver line S4. It has come with 4 years warrenty so i'll see how i get on with it.
