ball bearing grease boot damaged?

Default ball bearing grease boot damaged?

I just used the fork at autozone to remove my axle, and i ripped the rubber boot where the ball bearing joint is. what should i do?

take off the axle, disassemble the inner joint, pull the outer boot (the one that got damaged, I assume), regrease with fresh CV-joint grease, slip the new boot on & re-assemble everything inreverse order.
Don't drive with ripped boot, axle is much more expensive than the boot & pack of grease.

buy another boot, pack it with grease, and reinstall it. the clips are a PITA though. next time you can just turn the wheel to the side, and hammer down on the control arm to pop it loose. or there is another tool that you can use to pop the ball joint, it looks like a C, there is a picture in the helms manual of it. that tool would be ideal, but hammering on the control arm works good too.

oh, my bad, I thought that he ripped the CV joint boot. Just do as lagger said...

ok i got the boots from honda and new clips, whats the best way to remove and install these clips, it looks like its gonna be a pain in the ***? anybody?
