Working on a friends car, and have decided to call on the H-T's expertise. Ok, so we pulled the head for a p&p,mill job, and valve job...We put the head back on and now there are major idle problems( it idles between 1300-1500 rpms after you get off the gas)...gas mileage sucks for a honda, and it's really sluggish. We know that there is a vacuum leak in the intake mani., but we also broke one of the bolts on the fuel line, but there is no leak coming from the injectors or the line...I'm wondering if there is an intake manifold that he can buy for a 2001 EX civic, JDM...maybe, but something better than stock...what about an Si manifold, would if fit? Probably not, just a thought, also... What size injectors would one recommend, and a fuel line for a 1.7liter? Why is it so sluggish? Kind of wierd questions, but he wants to know...what do you think??? Thanks for the help

well the idle is caused by the vacume leak
and for running rich, are you throwing and codes?

 

No codes...The check engine light used to be lit, but that was the vtec switch...anything else? And is there a quick fix to a vacuum leak?

 

are they oversize valves? oh and the DOHC si intake manifold will not fit the sohc ex. skunk2 makes one for that motor now.

Have a look at the cam alignment to make sure they are aligned properly, or have not jumped a tooth/notch or two. Also, check your dist., and see if it has not moved on you either.

bascially recheck your timing, make sure crank/cam is at TDC

vacum leak can also mean incorrect mixture and slugish performance
check your ground wires, plugs

His car is bogging in a higher gear with a lower RPM when it's cold now... What's up with that, at like 1500-2000rpms in like 3rd gear just trying to get to speed the car starts to bog, like it has no gas in it or something. What is going on?
