Back Up Fuse Keeps Blowing
I have a few problems on my car.
1. The back up fuse keeps blowing
2. The engine reset because if you take out the back up fuse for a long time and put it back in then it resets.
3. So sometimes my check engine light comes on and sometimes it doesn't. usually it is the tdc sensor or a sensor that is inside the distributor.
4. My car also take a little longer to turn on.
My car keep blowing the back up fuse. This is what i have done so far i took out the clock took out the distributor wiring harness put in a 30amp fuse in the back up fuse and it still blew but it took a lil while not too long maybe 5 seconds.
I thought maybe it was one of my grounds because my engien takes a little longer to turn on so I checked the ecu ground. and 2 of my studs aren't there but two of my bolts are on does it matter? but yea any help is greatly appreciated.

Does it blow the fuse when the trans is in reverse or not? It sounds like there is a short somewhere in the backup light circuit. Start at the switch in the trans and check the connectors and the wires. Look for a pinched wire or missing insulation. Check the wires near the tail lights. Are the lights standard or some aftermarket type? Don't put in oversize fuses, that is just asking for burnt wires or more damage to the wiring or fusebox.
uhr6, please try not to help too much, I wouldn't want you straining yourself.

thanks for ur response. u asked does it blow when the trans? transmission is in reverse. When the car is off if i drop in a 7.5 amp fuse it will blow instantly. I am not running any aftermarket bulbs or anythign of that manner. Does the back up fuse have anythign to do with lights. just wondering because I dont know its function? Im pretty sure that it gives power to the clock, the memory wire of the radio, and the 12v to the cigarrete. Because those things dont work in my car. My tail lights and all of my lights work fine so i believe that if the back up fuse was for the lights then the lights wouldn't be working.
- Here is some more info
The car runs. Sometimes the check engine light comes on, sometime it doesn't. The weird part about this is that when its cold the light doesn't come on like every time i go out to school in the morning my car is cold and the check engine light doesn't come on also at school i park my car in a garage on the way back the light never comes on. At my house i leave my car in the sun and almost everytime the check engine light comes on when i turn the car on but sometime it doesn't it is random. My car also sometimes misfires but this is on real rare ocassions.
more input please anything is appreciated thanks.

OOps, I thought you meant the fuse for the backup lights. Now I get it, you mean the computer backup. That circuit should always be live so it always sends power to the computer and clock and radio. Do you have an aftermarket radio? If so, I would start with the wiring for that.
Have you tried getting the stored codes from the computer? That would give you some idea what kind of issue it is seeing. When the CE light does not come on, does the car reach normal operating temperature? A lot of electronic things tend to fail when hot but may show as OK when cold enough. You really need to know the codes that are being shown by the computer to see if they can be caused by the short or if it is a separate problem. Do you know how to read the codes?

i know how to read codes but when you take out the back up fuse from under the hood and wait a while it resets the ecu. try it if you want. so my car is constantly resetting.
the wiring harness for the deck is 100 percent perfect even when using a stock deck it has the same problems as an aftermarket so it isn't the wiring from the wiring harness. the red 12volt is giving power but the yellow memory wire isn't.

I was thinking that would happen after I posted. That makes life tough. Has anything non-factory like an alarm been hooked up that could draw more than stock? That memory circuit should only draw a tiny bit of power, so blowing the fuse means a short somewhere. Basically a visual and meter check of all the wiring from the fusebox out on that circuit is needed.
Have you tried disconnecting everything except the computer from that curcuit? If so and it still blows, that limits it to those wires or a possible bad computer. I would check the wiring over very carefully before trying to swap a different computer in though, otherwise it could be damaged. You could run a fused wire directly from the battery to the computer and replace that wire on the connector and remove the fuse from that circuit in the fusebox. That way if the fuse in the new circuit blows, it really is the computer. If you try it, just make sure to use a 7.5amp fuse to avoid frying anything.
Most of the problems I have seen with Honda wiring is due to non-factory "things" done to it or damage.

bahahahahaha o man
btw couldnt he just drive around his neigborhood until the light comes on, check the code while the car is stiill on so the computer still retains the memory before he turns the car off?

btw i think he already checked the codes and he has said that the code was for a tdc sensor
Also could you be kind enough to explain what the back up circuit controls, where does it distribute power to?

no one knows where it distributes to sheyat. but im gonna try unpluggin half the stuff in their and leave the ecu wiring and c if the fuse still blows and or i mite try to run strate power to the ecu with fuse box and c wut happens thanks a lot. thanks for your post.
one more thing confuses me its says 7.5amp fuse on my box for backup. on my civic when i popped the hood it also says 7.5amp on the fuse casing thing. but the actually fuse is a 15amp and my parents never changed the fuse before... is the integra one suppose to be 15?
The shop manual says the fuse in the underhood fusebox should be 7.5amp. It says it covers the ECM, TCM (transmission control for automatic trans), clock, stereo, maintenance reminder. It's fuse #32 and is a white/blue wire as it leaves the fusebox. The wiring diagram shows it going to the computer, the auto trans controller and to the stereo, clock, and maintenance reminder. I would check the full length of this wire, including taking it out of looms if necessary. I would still suspect the wire going to the radio could be damaged and making an intermittant ground. If you can cure this, then see if the check engine light comes on any more.
Fuses have an amperage rating for a reason. This reason is obviously not apparent to you, otherwise you wouldn't install 30A fuses into a 7.5A fused circuit. From now on, don't do it again.
To help locate shorts in your wiring, you need a multi-meter and a schematic diagram, or a Helms manual.
