Default b20vtec crank girdle question??

oK FOLKS, I posted this in hybrid already but, I'm in the some what finishing stages of putting my b20vtec together and thought of the possible upgrade of a girdle. Now gsr's and itr's have them from factory but will it bolt up to ls and b20's main cap's or is z10 motorsports my only hope? I already have forged rods and pistons so thats covered, just interested in any knowledge if the factory girdle/bridge will fit.

you can make the B18C girdle fit that engine.

you will have to modify the 3 center main caps though. and you will need the 6 main bolts from the B18C engine allong with the windage tray, oil pick-up and oil pan all from the B18C engine.

bassically the center main cap has to me machined down to the same hight as the others. and the other 2 main caps the girdle sits on have to be slightly machined as well.

and good machine shop should be able to do this........

good luck

If you are going to go through all the hassle of having a a ITR girdle machined to fit I would just go with the Z10 piece. IT a hell of a lot strong than the cast honda piece and its not that expensive either. May end up easier and cheaper than modifing another piece

The aluminum GS-R girdle is approximately $70 from the dealership.

You only need to machine the #3 main cap to make the GS-R girdle fit. That should cost you $20 at your local machine shop.

Then you need to buy the GS-R main cap bolts for the #2, #3, and #4 main caps.

That is all you will need to do to make the OEM GS-R aluminum girdle fit. You will also need the GS-R oil pickup, GS-R windage tray, and GS-R oil pan to finish it off.

I did this a couple years back with a CRVTEC setup and it worked fine.

High strength is not necessary with this piece. It will work just fine for your application as well as any other application.

The Z10 piece is a very nice girdle as well. The choice is yours. Good luck.

The Z10 piece is a lot more sturdier than the factory GSR/ITR, I have two of them right now installing for customers. You'll need the windage tray, pickup and main bolts from a GSR. Also Z10 is making a piece for the GSR/ITR upgrade to replace the factory one, the forging process is 100 times better and makes the piece stronger. This thing really helps when you're running high rpm and with the extra weight of the 84mm pistons, its all more necessary at high rpm, I've inspected bearings before without the girdle and another with a GSR girdle at the time it was night and day difference and a lot more scarring on the #3 and 4 main cap bearings and on the the thrust washer (nearest oil pump). I recommend a girdle to any of my customers because its all worth the extra money for what it does and since inspecting the difference in the past. Also I also use a 5 bolt main on my racecar ...

Any questions on the Z10 either email me or call Rob at Z10, 732 922 2309.
