B20B Vs B20Z
now my plans are to go turbo right after this swap so im trying to figure out witch would be the best solution.i kno some b20s come with lower HP but are better for turbo because of compression.so what would be the best one for boost? b20b ,b20z jdm b20 ,usdm???i kno this has be proably covered be4 forgive me but i kno different years come with different hps and compression ratios
i've seen a b20 pop a stock sleeve, get whatever you can , sleeve it , add pistons and rods, and alot of boost, the cheapest way aint always the best... unless you will be forever happy at 5psi
im only goin to be boosting like 7 to 8 psi its going to be my daily driver..saw on a couple threads ppl boosting there stock b20's to 10psi with good tuning..but the 126hp would be a better swap than the 146hp one because the 8.8 compression is better for boost????????
Lower compression = better boost.
I'm planning on picking up an LS motor for my car instead. I've read a lot on these motors, and I think you can create more power for less(safely) with an LS setup, but do as you think is best.

well heres the thing i have an ls but the motors shot so reather rebulid it i figured i could just buy a b20 for cheaper than a rebuild and boost it..does any body have any numbers of b20s(b or z) vs. b18 with the same turbo setups??
i would rebuild ur ls becuase the b20s have thin cylinder walls and eventually if you wana go higher boost down the road you will be looking a rebuild anyway, so you might as well rebuild the one that can take more boost
yeah people take that stock sleeve thing way to far, yes there thinner 84mm vs 81, but if its not tuned right i dont care what thickness your sleeves are. Boost it, tune it, romp it! those b20's make made torque when turboed cuz turbos make torque, and torque makes fun!
i just wanted to add a note.. sleeved or not sleeved it doesn't matter i had a sleeved b20 and when i went to the shop the sleeves shifted on the first pull on half a bar or 7 pounds.. i have seen stock sleeves pull 600 + hp on stock sleeves.....

Exactly, a B20Z has the same, if not thicker side walls than a GSR, so don't buy the fact that all B20's are weak. The B20Z will have more compression, but Honda made the side walls thicker for the high compression b20z. Get a b20z, get a block guard to be safe, and have a good 225-250hp.

just a quick question. if you see the link from hmotorsonline above, you'll see that they are selling 2 versions of b20b long blocks. So I'm assuming that the 99+ is b20z (usdm)?
