Default b20 vtec valvetrain noise

I recently put new type r LMA's in my stock b16a head because they were bad. Now the motor makes a clicking sound, but everything went back together the same way I took it off. The valve adjustment I used was for a gsr and type r, out of the hanes manual .007 intake, .008 exhaust. Any ideas? Do you need to run different clearances on a b20 vtec? I'm also running 11.5:1 pistons. This same noise is why i replaced the LMA's in the first place. Thanks for any help...

Did you prime the LMA's? Is a random ticking or a consistant ticking?

what do you mean by prime them? I spun the motor (no plugs) to get oil pres. before I started it . And its a constant ticking 2400-3700rpm's then the motor is too loud too hear, but I think it probably still makes the noise. The motor run fine though, but clicks????

I did soak them in oil for about a day and a half. The new LMA's only have 300 miles on them, and its been making the sound since start up. The LMA's were brand new from honda.

11.5:1? im assuming you have forged pistons, could it be piston slap you are hearing? damn, new lma from honda must have been a pretty penny

It might be piston slap, but I don't know what would cause it. It came out of nowhere, and yes 8 honda LMA's were not cheep.. Still confused.
I dident change the cam timing or anything like that???

well.. i do .006 intake and .007 exhaust. Then once I am done I turn the motor over twice and double check alot of times it changes a few thousands and I have to re adjust them and check again. I suggest you check the clearances again
