im pretty sure the b20 has the same 1.54 r/s ratio as LS cuz it has ls crank

that is correct.
B20 has an LS crank w/wider diameter pistons (with updated sleeves)

well i read that if you put a B16 head on a B20 block you get a near perfect R/S ratio of 1.74

and i just want to verify this is black and white

That doesnt make any sense, if your not chaning the crank/rods/pistons how does that changing out the head change the r/s? It doesnt. lol.

That's a total crock of steaming poo.
Changing the head doesn't affect r/s ratio at all. It only changes the compression ratio.

Now, if you swapped out the B20 crank and rods with that of B16B (CTR) crank and rods, then you'd have close to 1.74 r/s.

You're not going to get a 1.74 r/s with an B18A/B or B20 block.

The only way to keep the torque of a B18A/B B20 and get close to 1.74 r/s is by using a B20 crank in a B16A block with a custom short rod and crazy custom short skirted piston. Or somehow extending the deck height of a B18/B20 block and using a custom lengthened rod.

Curious, but why is a 1.74 r/s such a concern of yours?

yeah i don't why i posted that, now that i think about it, it really makes no sense

im concerned abeout r/s ratio because i want the least amount of stress on the cylinder walls because i plan on eventually running low boost

ok, then LS/B20 VTEC isn't the way to go.

Either go B16A/B16B/B17A or B18C. Actually a B17A engine is more closer to 1.74 r/s than a B16A is.

good luck...

well i also want b20 for the money and the torque

and i don't want a B17 due to it being ODB I and my car being ODB II

i have a four door so a 1.6 just don't have the torque im looking for

GSR is just too much for my budget right now

B20 non-VTEC would be perfect and reliable then
