b18c5 or build gsr??
Should I get a b18c-r or build a gsr? I want to have about 200-210 whp. If I buy the b18c-r wouldnt I have to add more mods to acheive this goal?
With a gsr I would be putting type-r pistons with total rebuild of block ($1150 w/block). I would have a fully built head for about $1700(supplied head) and a type-r tranny for $1200. This would cost me less for everything with my calculations than a type-r swap.
So which would you go with? Considering I dont need a complete swap, just complete motor. spending $4050 for gsr vs $4300-4000 for b18c-r Also is the b18c-r block engineered better than the gsr block w/type-r pistons?

I'd just save up for the Type R swap.
id go for the B18C1 because you can have it built and make more power then a 'stock' C5..! a C1 with just a fully built head would probably make more then a stock C5....you wanna make ~200 to the wheels right? you cant do it when you put all your money into a stock C5...
even though you wouldnt have to put that much more mods on the type-r, they are expensive becuase the type-r already comes wtih high performance stuff from the factory. i would go for the c1.
It takes a lot to make the GSR swap equivelant to a Type R swap. C5 swap with bolt ons(i/h/e/cat) could get you in the 12's in a hatch. I'd like to see a GSR do that.
See I'm not a big fan of hp and torque, just how fast I can get down the 1/4 track.

altogether for gsr long block, itr 98 tranny, with parts for built head and bottom end cost me around 4050-4300, which is a type-r swap. Pretty much the gsr with the stuff it has for build up will smoke type-r stock. Thanks guys for convincing me to go gsr. I just needed to know if there were any details I might have missed out on, but any other opinions are welcome.

I would also say go GSR. I myself am a fan of the b18c5, but only if you keep it stock (a gsr would sacrifice durability if it was putting out as much as the itr). If you want 200whp, then either way you'll have to change a lot of parts and you'll probably end up with more or less the same motor (except fot the higher starting price of the ITR).
