Default B18c Rebuild Question HELP!!!

Hey guys i got a JDM b18c. My question is .. if i buy a rebuild kit from ebay or where ever... and it comes with new pistons. Do/should i change the pistons or re-use the ones i have. I will be changing the rings, rod bearings, main bearings, and thrust washers.

Question is DO i have to use the new pistons they give me? or can i re use

change the pistons rings etcc....

take it to a mechine shop

why re-use the old one when theres new one?

remember when rebuilding a motor you have to take your time and do it by the book, if u dnt everything well fail. dnt it right the first time so u you have any problems

No you don't. It just depends on what your plans are for the motor. If the stock piston ringlands are still in good shape, I'd keep the stock pistons. If you plan to boost later I'd put in some quality forged pistons as added insurance, especially since you have the engine apart already. Do it right the first time and not waste money or time doing it the second time.

^ Yeah i got a JDM b18c/ type r for 1600 in a f**ked up dc2 chassis. Got motor inspected its in good condition. I known this mechanic that does quality work, he is going to take it out and put it in a EG hatch i am going to buy. When motor is out i was going to CHANGE: rod, main bearings, thrust washers, piston rings, and head gasket. Thats what i have at the moment and i am about to do this soon. I already change the valve stem seals, and had dual springs and retainers put in.

My question is do i need to buy new pistons to? because thats going to f*** up my whole plan.

No you don't HAVE to as long as you have them checked out and they say there ok but if your getting a brand new set in the rebuild kit might as well if anything I'm sure your pistons and Todd are still fine but you would at least want to do the the rings

^ Yes i am doing the rings. No see the problem is I WAS going to get the rebuild kit. BUT most of the parts I did not like they were cheap. NO brand Pistons NO BRAND bearings the only good thing was NPR piston rings and everything else was made in china sh**.

And i heard you have to get the pistons pressed on or something.. that confsed the crap out of me. All i ordered was Clevite bearings thrust washer, Cometic HeadGasket, and Hasting Piston Rings.( I hope this is all i need.)

Any opinions what else should i change???

npr piston rings are good stuff (their pistons too) and so is hasting. cosmetic headgasket I've seen alot of guys have issues with this brand. Stick to oem honda for the headgasket. Also it wouldn't kill ya to replace the oil pump too since you don't know exactly how the original owner treated the engine. I'd go oem honda for the oil pump.
