Default B18a Timing Setting

My motor seems to have problems running....everyone says timing......when I set the crank pully to the TDC mark and pull the valve cover off the alignment marks on the sides of the cam gears line up....however if you look at the cam mounting holders there are alignment holes on them aswell as matching holes on the cams....the intake cam holder hole aligns with the cam align hole.....however the exhaust cam one seems about 2mm off.....even though the cam gear marks are aligned......do these holes on the cams even have a purpose....Im going to check my Haynes manual tomorrow when I go to my garage, thats where my car is.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

-Brad

it boggs down when I press the accelerator......the rpm will pick up if I hold the gas down....but it takes about 4 seconds....and it drops to about 100rpm.

there's a chance one of your cams is a tooth off. did u recently do a cam swap or timing belt?

also, burn the haynes manual. helms is the only way to go. and if u think it's too expensive, then i guess proper knowledge and specs aren't part of your plan.

trust me, helms are worth every penny.

the wires are correct....because the TPS has 3 wires......now the Civic DX has these 3 wires backwards....so you have to switch them to let the engine know what WOT is.

disconnet the b10 and b12 wire it 4 crank sensor if it runs fine u need to rewire and check wire
i forgot excatly what i had to do
but it will run without the crank wire

I'll give that a shot.....but I also noticed that after I re-checked the timing today it idles weird.....it idles up and down....within 100rpm.....so This makes me think vacume leaks.

ya...I was planning on re-adjusting the idle when I went to my garage next.....but the fact that it rises and falls made me think something other than just idle problems.

there r all kinds of idle problems
so don t jump to conclusions
back up and go back to basics

now that ur sure ur timing belt is timed
make sure ur ignition timing is too.
(igniton timing will affect idle too less timing will drop idle more timing will raise idle)
