b16or ls tranny????
Hey guys I have done some research but what to see what you guys recommend... I have a built b20/vtec long block that I'm about to boost, I currently have a 99 si tranny. what I was wondering is what do you guys think would be a better street tranny?? the car really dosent see that much track time, but I do daily drive it, and it does see allot of street action... let me know what you guys recommend! thanks
I realize what I'm going to say here isn't the norm but I would go with the LS tranny.
WHY?= Your going to be making some descent power when tuned right resulting in the use of a strong clutch. I've always found 2 gear worthless on the street as the power started to climb (the 1 to 2 shift spinning tires practically uncontrolable). IMO you'll have the torque with the B20 and the Turbo to put the power down with a LS trans and will benefit from the longer gears.

I have a GSR.. a LS and B16 for my all motor setup. Stuck between the B16 and GSR. But the only reason I have an LS is cause I thought I was gonna turbo it

I honestly think the ls tranny would fit my driving preference just because I love to catch the unsuspecting z06, or mustang on the highway... Its priceless to see there faces after there 60k vette just got pulled by a civic.....lol
This has been covered a million times. Do a search.
In the end....B16 is going to accelerate the quickest. In this scenario, Ls trannies are for people who don't have a proper suspension setup, tire size/compound or the ability to boost by gear.....Or need to trap high in the 1/4 and need the longer gearing (but in this case go with the gsr tranny).
