B16A2 in...but having problems...
Hey guys first of all I'd like to say hi! I'm new to this forum and it looks great. Now, a buddy of mine had another friend of ours install a B16A2 into his 93 hatchback. Problem is when he starts it up all it does is backfire, and the engine shakes badly. The backfiring is horrible too. He told me it was wired wrong, but before I go there and check out the situation I figured I'd ask you guys! Please let me know what you think it could be!
Thank you,

A few things to check for backfiring, and if you don't have a Helms manual for your car (or nearest equivalent), get it. You will be referred to it often on this board
1. Timing set properly - ensure that the timing belt has not jumped and is the correct tension, timing marks lined up, etc.
2. Spark plug wires to the correct cylinders (my motorcycle will backfire 2-ft flames out the pipe if you cross the plug wires)
