I've never done it so I could very well be wrong. But I was under the impression if you swapped crank/rods/pistons everything would fit. Just like I know you can put LS crank/Rods into a GSR block. I thought ITR crank/rods would fit.

no, the b16 and b17 blocks are 8mm shorter than all the other b-series blocks

i was for sure it would work, i know it would not be a problem in a gsr block...but i just never thought about a b16 block. has anyone ever tried it?

its actually 7mm deck height difference, but not only that.. B18C cranks (GSR & ITR & LS I believe) have smaller width crank journals whereas B16 + B17's have bigger crank journal widths. Thats on big factor in why B18C cranks can't just drop into a B16 block. But it is possible to getta B18C crank to fit in a B16 block with some machining, of course once you get it to fit you'll obviously need to get custom rods made to accommodate the B16's shorter deck height and possibly some custom pistons as well.

The pistons fit fine, the rods will not, and there is little you can do to the motor that will justify replacing the stock B16 crank. The stock B16 rods will work, but I personally would move on to something stronger. Eagle rods are on ebay for $300 a set.

I beg to differ on this statement.

B16 rods are still too long if using a B18C crank. Custom rods will be needed for sure, if using a B18C crank in B16 block. Now, B17A rods *might* work. Clearances, etc. would have to be checked n' all that for sure, and if they do work, custom pistons would surely need to be made (customization of the wrist pin area to be specific).
