b16a transmission help
So my tranny started making an awesome ticking noise on Thursday. I thought, okay, I'll check it on Saturday. I never got the chance. It blew on Friday.
Here's the deal. I took it to a shop because I don't have the time or tools to replace it myself, but the guys over there have no idea what it is. The block is a b16a, and the numbers of the transmission are SI-1050642. I have a 91 CRX Si. Could this be the stock transmission before the guys before me swapped the engine?
If so, what should I have them look for to replace it, that won't cost me an arm a leg and an ***, and that'll fit without difficulty.
Thanks in advance.

Look for a YS-1 if you can find one! The s-1 is a dinosaur and most parts for it are obsolete if you need replacements.
The short geared YS-1 from the USDM 92-93 or the JDM Integra XSi are very rare but, are the best cable trans you can get.
The YS-1 will require a different clutch disk
Uses 92-up.
Parts for these transmissions are interchangeable with newer Hydro B series vtec transmissions and are readily available

So help a drugged up buddy out (I JUST had my wisdom teeth pulled). The shop is doing the replacement. What car should I tell them to look for? IT's stamped ys1 right? And what clutch should I have them look for to match (I don't need a performance clutch it's a stock motor).
Thanks a lot for the input.
EDIT: The half shafts I have and all the other stuff should match up fine right?

It will be from a USDM 92-93 GSR...very rare. Be careful because the LS also shares the same YS-1 tag code
The clutch disk will be different due to the spline count on the mainshaft. So you will need a 92-up Integra clutch

I'm looking at a local 90 YS1, what's the difference?
NVM found it. Looking at a 93 YS1 for 400 - deal? And I would need a 92-93 clutch right?

Yes you would need a 92-up clutch disk
Its a deal if it is short geared and good transmission.
Crack it open and inspect it before buying it. I would hate to see you buy a 400 boat anchor.

What should I be looking for when I open it?
Again, I'm assuming the incompetent folks over at the place where my car is haven't found something.

Counting the teeth to make sure it is short geared. The ratios can be found on here if you search and there are a few other B series gear ratio charts floating around.
Also checking the synchromesh areas to make sure they are still good and at a point...not smashed over.

Thanks for the help. Couldn't find the holy grail GSR YS1 - but I ended up getting a freshly rebuilt (from a shop) LS 92 YS1 - with a GSR 5th gear (not sure why the guy did that). It'll work for now my car will just feel a little slower, but dammit I needed my car working.
