Default B16A, which tranny?

I might be buying a B16A shortblock and I need to know what would be the best tranny to put on it.

Right now I'm looking at a 94 GSR tranny but I don't know if it will fit or not.

Help would be appreciated.

a B16 tranny would be best for a B16...
a B18 requires more torque that the B18 gives out...
but it would work...i wouldnt do it tho...

J1 or S1 would be great. i have both. running the J1 at the moment.
great gearing. not a nice freeway ride though. but i love it anyway.

No, just build it up n/a.

What would eb the best tranny setup to use with a B16 tranny? Keep in mind I could swap the following parts.....

final drive, clutch, flywheel, LSD

to me. a car is like a shoe.
its what u like. what u feel good in.
i do alotta stuff others wouldnt. example. my bro has xxtreme ACT pressure plate for his clutch. i got the Heavy duty ACT plate. he also has a LS transmission. long gears. as i run the J1 which goes 50mph at around 3000rpm in my ride in 5th.
his will do 120 in 4th. as mine will top out at around 90ish in 4th. he has no rev limiter. i do. he has no speed governer. i do. i have 17" wheels. he has 15"
he has ripped up interior. i dont. im all motor. hes going turbo.

i did my own swap. he didnt. i can do everything to the car myself. from stripping it to rebuilding it completely. he could. but doesnt.

i have no LSD. he does. stuff like that. its a personal opinion. i have a certain shift ****. he hates it. i have my shifter somewhat tight. with little to no play. kinda stiff shifting. his is looser than a 50 yr old hooker. but he likes it.

so heres my opinion.
all motor. b16a
J1, S1 cable transmission. nothing changed.
ACT hd pressure plate.
organic street disc.

Wait so are you saying the S1 and J1 tranny's for cable are the same? My friend has a J1 w/ B18C and I have a S1 w/ B16A and his car shifts faster and sooner than mines. Could it be the different motor builds? Also, where does YS1 and Y1 tranny fall as far as cable?

Fantastic!

Hey but a B16A on a LS tranny would be astronomical! I mean if I gotta shift at 7K @ 110 in 4th I can only imagine what another 1500 RPM would do.
