b16a tapping noise

b16a tapping noise
ok so i have had a tapping noise coming from the engine bay for awhile now. now im here looking for some help. i cant exactly pinpoint where it is coming from.
its not affecting the performance of the engine but it is pretty much pissing me off. it isnt consistent, and yet some times it is with the revs of the engine. it will do it on acceleration,deceleration,idle,but i cant tell if it is doing it in vtec as vtec is way to loud to hear the noise over. and have done 1 valve lash and checked it twice after that.
oil is brand new completely full, and thats really all i can think of. please help me with this one guys.

completely stock. compression across the board 235. oil pressure is perfect. oil temp is perfect.

i had the same problem with my friends motor. it sounded like something was getting grounded right. we changed dizzies, wires spark plugs. it wasnt that. i re-adjusted the valves still the same thing. i ended up pulling the head off and found that a few LMA's were bad.

thats kind of what im figuring.....good thing i have itr valvetrain and lma's and itr cams laying around. now i just have to convince my lazy *** to swap it all over

if the noise stops when vtec kicks in, it is most likely your LMA's... a valve adjustment would be needed if the ticking continued throughout the revs. I have the same problem...

haha exactly! i cant hear the noise while in vtec but then again who could? i would have to through a midget in the engine bay or something to hear it
