Default b16a Lifter or Rocker

had my car looked at for the engine tick in the 4th cylinder farthest to the left...

mechanic looked at it said it was a bad lifter (although i still think it just needs a valve adjustment which i'll do before any large job internally)..i know b16a's dont have lifters...but what are honda's version of conventional lifters?..are they the rockers?..i went to the dealer earlier today and asked to order a rocker..which to my knowledge was the equivelant of a lifter and assumed thats what my mechanic meant...but 200 bux for a rocker?! wtf?..maybe its the wrong part....anyone have any clues as to what i should do im stumped..

i dont question the integrity of my mechanic..hes experienced in toyotas and saturns..works at a saturn dealership...and is a friend of the family...i just tried to run with his diagnosis in the direction taht best fit the honda engine anatomy..anyways...some help?..or clarification on the whole honda lifter/rock/follower shpeal?

#16 It keeps the vtec rocker against the cam when not engaged. When these fail the rocker bounces back and forth against the cam, making a tick.

hold on..so your saying its my lost motion assembly that needs replacing?..do rocker arms tick when they are worn?..also i'v never heard of only one rocker arm going out..it DOES tick..when cold and sometimes when its fully warm around 3-4k rpms...i'd be SOOO happy it i needed a new LMA because its only 40 bux rather than nearly 200 bux for this rocker arm that honda wants to sell me...keep the responses comin guys i feel im getting to the bottom of this...

Edit:..also...will bad rocker arms of LMA's cause severe damage on the motor?..or valve train
