B16 Valve seal replacement...
If a B16 valve seal was leaking, would replacing just the valve seal solve the problem, or would this generally require new valve guides and a mild polish of the valve to ensure that it doesnt leak?
My EM1 head has 230,000km and I would like to do some preventative maintenance on it. There is mild oil consumtion at VTEC crossover that I would like to fix.
Please dont regard this as a "all VTEC engines do this"

At that mileage, it really could be worn valve guides. If that's the case, new valve stem seals will go bad quickly.
At that mileage I would probably pull the head and have it sent to a shop so they could check the clearances and do a valve job.
If you're tight on cash you could just replace the seals yourself without pulling the head and see if the problem comes back. If it does, then you know you probably have to get new guides. The seals aren't very expensive.
And yes, every VTEC engine I've seen consumes oil. Whether or not you're pulling oil through the stem seals is another question. How do you know that this is the problem? Blue poof at startup?
