OK some guy is trying to sell me a type r tranny...but how can i tell the difference between a type r tranny and a b16 tranny...its USDM...and i was asking just incase somebody would know by just looking at it or how can i tell when i drive it...the tranny is on a b16 eg right now and i can always test drive it...thanks....

 

The type R will have LSD. Pull an exle and if you can see through then it has LSD.

are only jdm itr trannys labbled s80?
my guess is the s80 is the 4.7 only

so the USDM type r tranny has LSD also?? wells i checked the tranny and it does have LSD..but not sure if its a b16 w/ LSD or a straight up type r lsd...

 

well if it is a b16 and it has a LSD then you really could consider it a type R tranny
they are identical minus one has a LSD and the other doesn't (USDM that is).

the only other thing that i can think of that would help distinguish if it is a Type R is that it should say LSD screen printed on the case somewhere.

 

Just get the Y21 and call it a day, it has 1-5th gear and F.D same the U.S ITR with LSD.
