B16 TPS Setting, don't understand
Ok two questions:
First, coul dI adjust the TPS by letting the engine get to opertaing temp. then turning the TPS one way or the other and listeng for the motot idle to reduce?
Second, when my car wouldnt start, I performed a compression test. I think I read a while back that if you dont disconnect something when you do the test, that would make your idle screwy or something.....I am thinking that is the cause of my high idle. Is this correct? How could I fix this, and what were the actual steps to the compression test?
TIA

Compression test:
need a compression gauge...
take a spark plug off, place the gauge, disconect the dizzy and the tower plug of the harness on the driver side
go inside the car and get ready to crank the engine
make sure u got the gas floored completely @ WOT
crank the engine at least 4-5 times to allow compression to build
go out and read the reading on the gauge
Leakdown test
need a compressor
need the leakdown test tool and gauge
u need to make sure the engine is on TDC
then u put compressed air into the CYL #1 and once u get over 100psi in there, start to listen if u hear any leaks ( u can also do #3 before u move engine)
if u hear a leak on ur intake u have some bent valves or bad vlave seats
if u hear the leak on ur exhaust, u have bad exhaust valves or seats
if u hear the leak inside ur engine(thru oil cap) then u have bad rings
turn engine until TDC of Cyl #2 and repeat process"
