B16 TPS Setting, don't understand
Yes, i know at idle its suppose to be like .45v and wot like 5v but where do you measure this at? the ecu? the wires before the tps?
Anyone know this for the OBD-0 B16? I need to test my TPS. I have a idling problem that I need to fix, but first I want to check my TPS before I replace it.
With the ignition ON, car not running, check the Red/Blue wire for voltage. I just cut away some of the wire insulation so that you can actually see the copper wire. Then use a voltmeter and put the positive lead on the wire, and the negative lead on a ground, like the engine block. With the throttle fully closed, it should have .5 volts, and at WOT it should be 4.5 volts. Hope this helps.
I would rather bring back a post that had NO replies than start a new one.
Tomorrow I am going to borrow a voltmeter and test my TPS. When you measure it for WOT do you just ope the throttle by hand and the voltage should go up, even with the car off?

paper clip there three wires place one paper clip on the grn/wht wire then place another paper clip on the red/blu wire if it doesnt work try the yel/wht instead of the grn/wht

How would you test two at once? Can you explain that a lil better please?
Also, I read that almost all Honda TPS are the same. Does this mean, that I can buy one from a 91 CRX and it would work with my 1st gen B16A?

when i got my motor(jdm b16/s1/pr3)..it had a broken tps sensor/broken dis cap and a blown head gasket..so i took the tps sensor and the dis cap off of my stock crx si motor and they both work(except i need to adjust the tps and replace the head gasket too)..so how does a dealership adjust it..i may try the paper clip way,but would the paperclips change the resistance of the reading?
you can adjust them..you cut a slice across the top of the rivet(looks kinda like a rivet not sure what they are called),deep enough so you can use a flathead screwdriver to take them out..then you can turn them clockwise/counterclockwise to adjust...i dont wanna have to do splicing,i wanna find out how a dealership would adjust it
the voltmeter has two leads place one lead the red one (positive)to the red/blue wire via a paper clip the next lead (the black one its a ground lead) to the remaining wires vai paper clip
if you have one that test resistance, i heard that you can just put the probes on the tps pins and measure it there.

I think the older OBD0 ones had a rivet that almost had to be drilled out, the OBD1+ ones have a star bolt holding it in. on my old OBD0 B16 I had a broken tps, so I replaced it with the one off my original D16, but I had to drill the rivets out.

Were they pop-rivets or what? I cant see my TPS that well without taking my TB off.

ok, I got in for a close look at my TPS earlier and I have those allen screws on mine. Two of them. Wednesday I should be able to get to autozone and borrow their voltmeter. I think my TPS must be bad, cuz this happened out of nowhere.
u adjust them by loosing up the two screws holding it to the t.body have the voltmeter hooked up hold the tps and them test it by openin the throttle wide open it should read .5v if it doesnt. adjust it by move to ur right or left after that tighten the screw its easy after u while of doing hope i explain it good....... ps ur car doesnt have to be on
