Default b16 timing

sorry if this is a dumb question.can i ajust the cam timing buy just advancing the cams one tooth forward?i would guess this would be the sam as ajustable cam gears. thanks for you input

No. On a B16, cam gears are adjusted in degrees between stock and one tooth off. I don't know of any B application that would benefit from being a whole tooth off.

yes, putting the cam timing off one tooth is a big difference when compared to using adjustable cam gears. with the adjustable gears you can do 1 degree or even .5 degree increments for maximum performance without hitting the valves on the pistons (which you certainly don't want to do). if i remember correctly one tooth off is around 10 degrees difference. 10 degrees could mean valve to piston contact or would cause the engine to run horribly. so all in all it's not a good idea to try that. adjustable cam gears are the way to go.

my timing was one tooth off and my engine just ran like ****. fix it tho and she runs like a champ.
