when i drive the car normally through town and stuff the coolant gauge is about in the middle (1/2). when i go on the highway after about 8 min. into the ride the gauge is down to the bottom( maybe 1/8) so its running alot cooler. is this alright? will it effect anything? better or worse gas mileage on highway?
have a new thermostat that opens sooner and C&R custom radiator

mine is the same way. in the winter i put cardboard in front of the radiator so that it warms up within a lifetime. i'd say as long as its warmed up, you'll be ok. its more harmfull to an engine if you cool the oil too much, than it is to cool the coolant too much.
