B16 Rocker Arm Removal
I need to replace my rocker arms on the exhaust side of my head and I was wondering if it's possible to do this with the head still on the block and in the car. I have the HELMS manual, but it's a little unclear. It shows the sealing bolts on the timing belt side for removal of the rocker arm shafts, but it also shows them coming out and being replaced on the distributor side. I've never had the VTEC solenoid off so I don't know if the shaft comes out that way. My question is can the exhaust side rocker arm shaft be taken out from the distrubutor side after the VTEC solenoid is removed or can it only be taken out from the timing belt side?
The rocker shafts can be removed from either side. Check for clearance for complete removal of the shafts. The shafts are nearly as wide as the head. If the shaft cannot be completely removed, you can slide it out half way out one side, replace two sets of rockers, and the repeat by sliding the shaft out of the other side.

The picture is for an ITR, which is the same as the B16 head.
