Default b16 head on a b18 block

I'm no where near a Honda mechanic, so bear with me.

If I out a b16 head on my b18 block, that would be similar to an ITR motor, correct? Keep in mind it's a b18a1.

If I did this,
#1 would it be worth it?(hp wise)
#2 would it be worth while to set this head up for F/I ?
#3 Would I need a b16 ecu, or b18 ecu for the vtec?

A ported B16 head = ITR head

You'll have more compression with a B16 head... Yeah, go for it.

High compression + Boost = Bad idea

If you're boosting i'd stay with the B18 head.

If you're going N/A, I'd go with the B16 head for the compression.

#1=yea
#2=if you leave stock pistons compression would be still low, you shoudl be ok with a low psi turbo since not compression but internals would be the ''controlling'' factor in how much boost you can have.
#3=you would need a vtec ecu(without iabs), brought up to 1.8 lsv specs

Ported B16 Head with CTR pistons is a great combo.

If anyone could let us know how much ABOUT that costs, and what exactly needs to be done to the block would help, what kinda head gasket to use, and what a safe redline would be before warping the crankshaft. And one more thing, if i buy a balanced crankshaft, connecting rod, piston combo which is capable of 11000 rpms, what kinda head work could i get to match that?

Sorry... but not quite correct. There is one downside to the ls vtec. The rod stroke ratio causes it to be not to reliable. Which is why the gsr comes stoch witha block girdle. To handle the High rpm with the added compression.

If you notice the rod to stroke ratio of the vtec motors is a bit shorter then that of the non vtec motors. The only way to help counter act this problem, or prolong the life of your ls/vtec is to Get two main things. (1) a Block girdle... the ones from the gsr's are PERFECT, and convert it to a Semi-closed Deck.

And there are other alternatives... if you have the crank balanced, this will help, as well as shot-peened connecting rods.

As for turboing your motor, if you want to run high boost. these are things that you are going to want to do anyway, so why not go for it. If you are going to go through this much trouble, you may as well get Eagle h-beam connecting rods, and JE low compression Forged pistons. And you will be set for a while. If you plan on a really rocking motor... that is a different story... haha
